The Atomic Battery will supply electronic gadgets

in #astronomy7 years ago

We all complain about inefficient batteries in our everyday mobile electronic devices. The years are passing, the manufacturers are on the brink of a breakthrough, and our gadgets are still running shorter than we would like and unload at the least opportune moment.

This problem once and for all want to solve the Russians. At the Atomexpo nuclear technology fair in Moscow, Rosatom engineers recently unveiled atomic batteries of human fingernail size that can continue to power gadgets for up to 50 years.

The cell consists primarily of nickel-63 isotopes, but also other substances, including radioactive. Unfortunately, Russians have not revealed what. Although there are substances that threaten living organisms in the battery, their quantity is small enough to allow the protective layer of metal foil to fully protect its users.

Russians plan to refine their invention and use it to power devices such as those working in space. They also seriously think about miniaturization of the atomic batteries so that they can be combined with each other and increase their efficiency.

In the future they would like to use it to power smartphones, tablets, laptops or pacemakers so that we no longer have to worry about charging them for several decades.

The concept of this is revolutionary. They just need to prove that the safety is idiot proof. With anything radioactive in the wrong hands is dangerous. To the environment, to themselves, and to others.
If they can convince people of the safety, then they will change the mobile world.

Great piece, thank you for sharing.
👍

Electric cars with this would be amazing, that is if this is true.

I can't wait for the first youtube video to show up with the title ' Red Hot Nuclear Battery'.
