What is marketing?

Marketing is a business process that seeks to satisfy the needs of the customers through a product or service. In other words, it is a process by which customers become interested in a product or service.
Let's understand better with an example. Suppose you are thinking of making a laptop. But there are many good companies in the market whose laptop customers prefer. So why would people buy your laptop?
What is needed now is research. Here you need to find out what the customer needs. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.
You need to make your laptop or product stand out in front of people. Through Samsung, customers need to understand why they will buy your laptop? Or what is the benefit of buying your laptop?
Now if the laptop or any other product you make is meeting the needs of the customers or they are making a profit then they must buy that product. Ultimately your job is to sell the product. And this whole process can be called marketing.

Who is the father of marketing?

The father of marketing is Philip Kotler.

The field of marketing

The four main areas of marketing are –

Product
Prize
Place
Promotion

Product: The product you want to market with is the product.
Price: The price at which you want to sell the product or product is the price.
Place: The place from which the customer or buyer will purchase the product.
Promotion: Promotion is the way you want to promote your product.

What is the difference between sales and marketing?

Marketing does not mean selling products. Marketing is the act of promoting a product or product to the public by banding, advertising, and promoting online or offline. In other words, the job of marketing is to inform the public about the product.
Hey, at the end of the marketing process, of course, sales turn into sales. The purpose of indirect marketing is to sell products, but sales are completely different.
Sales are where you are working to sell a product or product directly to the customer. In this case, when you go to the customer, your purpose will be how to sell your product to the customer.

Types of marketing

There are basically two types of marketing.

Business to Business (B2B)
Business to Consumer (B2C)

Business to Business (B2B) Marketing

Business to Business Marketing is also called B2B Marketing. It is a process where transactions are made between traders. For example, suppose you have a Manufacture Company. You are marketing your business to a Wholesaler. Or a retail business deal with a wholesaler business.
Note that in this case, the business is not doing any transaction, promotion, or marketing to the general customers. Thus, the process of marketing one business to another is called Business to Business (B2B) marketing.

Business to Consumer (B2C) Marketing

Business to Consumer marketing is also called B2C. In the case of B2C, directly targeting customers, promotions or advertisements, or other marketing tips are applied.
For example, suppose you want to market a book. If you go public with this book and do promotion, promotion or advertising, then that market is called B2C marketing.
In other words, Business to Consumer is a marketing strategy where business is promoted by reaching out to the people. Marketing can be done online or offline using any strategy.
