New AskSteem Feature: Public Cache (also 10k Queries)

in #asksteem7 years ago

Don't you hate it when this happens:

Well so do I, but never fear AskSteem Cache is here!

Starting today, AskSteem search results will give you the option to access our public cache of any post on the blockchain as it appeared when we indexed it. So if steemit, or any other steem client, happens to go down while you're browsing we have got you covered.

How to Use It

Step 1: Do an AskSteem Search

Visit AskSteem.com and enter your query of choice into the large prominent search box in the center of the page. In this case, I'll search for yellowstone.

Step 2: Click a Results Context Menu

To access a post in the cache we need to click its context menu. Each post has its own set of options which can be found by clicking the down arrow icon to the right of the green URL.

Step 3: Select Cache

In the context menu, you want to select the option labeled Cache. After selecting the cache option you will be directed to the page containing our public cache of the post as it appeared when our blockchain crawlers last indexed it.

The Cache Page

We fully support Markdown along with many HTML tags on our Cache pages meaning that posts should appear just as they would on steemit.com or other steem clients. In the Information panel to the right of the content, you will find details about the post such as who the author is, its net votes, comment count, and tags. You may click on select details to be directed to an AskSteem search results page automatically filtered by the information you selected. For example in the above example clicking on the travel tag would take you to a search results page filtered for posts tagged with travel.

10,000 Queries

As a side note, I launched AskSteem exactly 2 weeks ago and as of today, we've received about 10,000 queries from our users. That means that users have asked AskSteem (and we've answered), on average, a question every 2 minutes for the last 14 days. I am incredibly proud to have helped this number people with such a young product and look forward to continuing the development of new features.

Happy searching!

Oh snap, I've been waiting for this option in particular. THANKS!

I'm usually on mobile, so having to wait for stuff I already saw to get back online, if I'm looking for it later and it's temporarily disappeared for whatever reason, was becoming a pain... if only because of the back and forth checking of its current status intermittently.

So yeah, new feature much appreciated, indeed!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. :)

Wow this is great man! Keep up the good work!

Thanks, will do.
