Your top richest is slightly different than other sources. Are you searching the block chain directly? Or aggregating other available information? I ask, because there is a user Im trying to identify, just as a hobby, who is up by bittrex and poliniex in value and has been for a while. But they are not on your list here. I believe it's an institutional user like bittrex or blocktrades, but not sure yet. I am strictly just curious if its a company or a whale, so I've been watching out to guess what it is. They have no posts and follow no one but are one of the largest money pots in the pile. Not naming here, but curious why your list might be different than others. While mostly, it's the same in general as to who is where. Just slight variations near the top 4 or 5 in some.
This data is from the AskSteem index of the blockchain so some of the numbers may be out of date by up to 3 days. From your comment, it doesn't sound like this user is new to steem so they should be on the index, any chance you could supply their username so I can look them up.
The mysterious name is an older "user" named @freedom
Noticed them on steemwhales.. holding #3 for quite some time, by a solid margin. They aren't new.
Okay I see the issue, the top richest users list above is ranked by Steem Dollars which is the liquid currency on the steem blockchain, @freedom only has $1.77 Steem Dollars in their account, and most of their wealth is held in Steem Power which is the metric used to determine voting power, but not a liquid currency.
