What is the AskSteem Bot?

Right now, the AskSteem Bot is an automated piece of software that tries to bring the power of AskSteem search to you though recommending articles in the comments (since steemit does not currently have any recommended articles feature). Its source code is available free of charge here.

What does it mean if the AskSteem Bot replies to my post?

If the AskSteem Bot replies to one of your posts it means that it found similar content somewhere else on Steem and thinks that it may be useful to people interested in your content. The content it links to may also be by you, or it may be by someone completely different.

How do I get rid of the AskSteem Bot?

If you don't want to see any more posts from the AskSteem Bot then we recommend that you visit our profile and click the "Mute" button displayed at the top of the page. This will not only block you from seeing AskSteem Bot on your posts but also everywhere else on Steemit, Busy, eSteem, etc.

How does AskSteem Bot determine the similarity of posts?

Basic Answer:

To determine the similarity of posts we look at a wide variety of factors like the title, tags, body, author, and date. Then we perform a series of calculations that find other posts that have similar attributes.

Advanced Answer:

We take factors like the title, tags, body, author, etc. and form a feature vector out of them. We then measure the high dimensional distance between the feature vectors of other documents in our index using cosine distance or similar.

I've found a bug or something wrong with the AskSteem Bot, what do I do?

If you find something wrong with our bot and would like to report the behavior open a ticket on our github repo.

Final Thoughts

As mentioned in the beginning of the post, the AskSteem Bot is currently in Beta and so it may not always be perfect. We will continue to work on improving our technology and providing the best service that we can. If you have suggestions feel free to leave them on our feedback form.
