AskSteem: What do you like about Steem?
As I'm working on a gateway to create an account from another platform I keep thinking of things people like about Steem and what they like to do here. I don't want to focus on the reward aspect as similar to crypto prices it can fluctuate wildly. Having been here for a long time and active daily I think there are a lot of aspects I either take for granted or have completely forgotten because I'm just too used to them, I'm sure there are many others of you who have fallen in love/gotten addicted to our blockchain that may feel the same way.
But to everyone, new or old, what are some things you like especially with Steem compared to other social media platforms. Sharing them in this post would help me point them out easier in the future and at the same time it could create some nice discussions on the matter.
I set up a website,
steem-transfer.com
that has an overview of things to do here. It's still new and under development but i think it will be handy for people to get started.
I like the ability to read a single "database" that is connected to different , "decentralized" front ends. It's nifty. I also like the respect element. People generally can know each other in a different way than legacy media can enable. It's more transparent making things more intimate I guess.
I like how it brings value to a variety of people and businesses. I think that’s essential for the growth of the platform. It’s amazing how much my life has changed since I’ve been here. Steem has encouraged me to break outside my shell and push my limits 👍😁

I think that Steem users have open minds and allows for better ways to form communities that can focus on the interests we pursue to follow and engage with. It feels easy to find relevant information to learn perspectives about as most visible authors do not hesitate to express their opinions. No risks of being really manipulated by an algorithm.

Steemians tend to be a lot more intelligent than the average social media user on popular centralized platforms. If you talk to someone you don't know here, the quality of discussion tends to be much better. That will change with growth in the number of users.

That's a really good point and something I've noticed as well, I'm guessing it does take those special kind of users to not just stumble on Steem and give it a try, but to also stick with it a bit longer and really understand it.
Obviously you also have some that are way under the average and here for the wrong reasons, but that's decentralization. :)
Yeah, the high average IQ of Steemians is clearly a result of the complexity and novelty of the platform. Hardly anybody knows about Steem, so you have to be much more of a curious novelty seeker and not shy away from complexity to get round to creating a Steem account in the first place. Both traits are correlate with intelligence. If you're too much below average, you won't be able to wrap your head around all the keys and the tokens and all that. Be be successful to any degree takes both the ability to see potential in things like Steem in general and also some persistence.

I have been on and off for the past few months, life happens you know and has nothing to do with price or crypto or any of it, but the truth is that when I joined last year I made a little "family". Of course I'd love steem to "grow" and reach bigger audiences but the "family" vibe is also there. There is Isaria, and paintingangels and pechiche, and people I care to know about when I stumble around, and I hope they feel the same way. I also like that you follow and it's chronological, no algorithms, though ai. is good in a way, it's absolutely discouraging when you want to share something and it decides it's not worth when you've worked long. I also like how different we all are, and the different reasons we ended up gathering and sharing rat memes on discord and doing these little online parties. I had the pleasure to go to Steemfest and felt they were all real people in the 3d world too. So we are small (yet) but there is a great charm also due to it, it's not too big to feel we're just a minnow in the ocean.
The people are what i like the most. I've interacted with some very kind and generous people here, as well as seen some real jerks. You get all kinds here, which I enjoy. So many talented creators as well sharing thier talents with us on the Steem blockchain...
Engagement: I understand what this means here in Steem Blockchain, where the single user can take himself in the TOP10, but with a team he can reach the first position. So teamwork is the key word for the personal success of a lot of people with a win-win goal. Unfortunelly I started to understand these aspects not from the beginning of my Steem travel, but today they are my favorite tools. I hope that new Steemians will understand these concepts very soon and earlier they can.
Thank you, @acidyo for your work in our Blockchain!👍

Primarily, I was attracted here based on the premise that I can get rewarded for creating contents on the internet. It seems unreal till I made my first real money from it. The economy is simply amazing. Then, I got introduced into the world of cryptocurrency based on using and exploring the steem blockchain. A very vital knowledge that might become even more vital in the nearest future when crypto becomes adopted by the masses.
As if those were not enough, then comes the proliferation of awesome dapps. Applications that are not only fun to use but also reward users just for using them. The steemhunt platform stands out for me and their token was listed few weeks ago. I could go on and on including feeless and fast transactions on the chain but I have to stop here.
