Deadlines and rewards
Breaking things down into smaller parts can be a way to increase motivation and reduce resistance to get started with things. It may be easier to keep focused on the task if you know you will take a short break when completed.
I need clear goals and knowing that I will be ready. Therefore I make a list of what I have to catch and then I start to bend it. Once I've done that I feel a kick and become proud of myself. The feeling of being able to delete or check off items on a list are beautiful and visually see that the list is getting smaller and smaller shows that I have achieved and what I have achieved.
