P1000212.JPG

This is a picture that I took some time back during a practice by the fire dept. working as a photographer to their A/V office. The practice consisted in extinguish the fire on a pit, but the main objective was to learn how to use the system of the hose python and the different ways to protect yourself with the water and at the same time cooling down the fuel of the fire.

Sadly, I have seen real fires where people loose their stuff and in the worse cases, family members, this practices are necessary for the firefighters to train what they're going to do in real situations. The black and white contrast gives a special effect on the fire, making the smoke to look like a storm in the sky when it's actually a lot of fire and dark grey smoke.

Really NICE photograph!
Please tell us where this picture was taken, what city?!

This was taken in Vargas, Venezuela, but it's a practice of the Capital District Fire Dept of Caracas borrowing the installations of Navy Training Center in Catia La Mar.
