The mountain is a form of land that stands out above the surrounding area. The mountain is part of the earth's soaring surface compared to the surrounding area. A mountain is usually taller and steeper than a hill, but there is similarity, and use often depends on local custom. Some authorities define mountains with peaks over a certain magnitude. There are three main types of mountains. Volcanoes, mountain folds, and mountain fractures. These three types are formed from tectonic plates when parts of the Earth's crust move, collapse and drown. Endogenous, elevated isotation and magma intrusions lift up rock layers upward and form a plateau that is higher than the surrounding plain. The elevation of this rapture forms a hill, if the hill is taller and steeper then the mountain is formed. The main mountains tend to form in long lines indicating the boundary and activity of a tectonic plate.
