Coloring and Inking Hercules - "Tutorial"
Step 1: Simple Sketch
The Root of any good drawing, is the one that has a well done sketch, whenever you are going to make a drawing, either of your imagination or taking an image as a model, the ideal is to break it down into a series of simpler figures, ( circles, ovals, loose lines, etc, etc); that later serve as a guide. The Scan that I got from the drawing is a bit advanced, however it allows us to realize how important it is to draw clearly when making a sketch.Step 2: Basic outline.
Then we begin the first phase of inking, which consists of marking on the lines previously made in the sketch, leaving clear the shapes that make up the drawing. Once this is done we can erase, with complete peace of mind, the guidelines that still reach to be seenStep 3: Thick and Thin.
The lines we put in step 2 are all the same, in thickness, to give the drawing more vitality is necessary to change that, simply increase the thickness of some lines works wonderfully. Note for example that the lines outside, are more thick, and that the thickness of the lines increases in the points where they are curved, while in the tips, are thinner, this combination of thick and thin is much more attractive to the eye, that some lines all of the same thickness.Step 4: Base
Step 5: Shading
The first thing before placing the shadows, is to locate which is the light source in the drawing, in this case the light comes from above Hercules. Knowing where the light comes from, locating the shadows becomes an easy task, as the light comes from above, the shadows are projected under the hair, eyebrows, nose and neck, to name a few. Applying the shadows may seem complex, however, it is not, you only need to increase the intensity of the color gradually until you reach the desired point. Once ready we proceed to sign it.
