How to recognize and master the color, if you do not like to paint the landscape (nature)?
Because the real universe is the source of color and very very rich in color, incredible, * without limit ..! And because humans are a small part of the universe, the color of the skin / face of a person is strongly influenced by the colors of nature.
Herri Soedjarwanto direct painting G, Batur Kintamani.
Upon completion, the painting is widely publicized
/ loaded in Bank Mandiri calendar.
An easy way to learn color is to observe the colors contained in nature. The best way is to paint a direct view of nature.
(*) As an illustration, then ... in order to research and study the colors of nature, I borong all kinds of blue and green color in the store, without the rest. At that time collected 16 kinds of green color, and 10 kinds of blue color, (until now I still memorized outside the name of 26 colors and its nature and character).
But it turns out to paint nature, ... all (26 colors) is still not enough .. !! I still have to make a mixture of many colors again .. !! ...
It's amazing ... .. the color of God's Creative Creation ..
Theme of Man and Nature
Some of the guests who came to look for the painting of figures / faces (the theme of life), surprised to see there are paintings of nature scenery: "Lho mas Herri was painting nature also tho? And it turns out it's good too? ".. then they buy there are even ordering a landscape painting regularly, in addition to the figures, themes of life, social realism that they already know before.
Indeed my closeness to nature, and my history in painting nature as long as the history of painting figures, faces of people and life. From the beginning I liked to paint the theme of human life, also love to paint the landscape, separately. . But sometimes, even more often, I combine my pleasure in painting both themes in a single frame of painting.
Live and friendly with nature in the village
From grade 6 to junior high school to high school I joined my uncle in Kal-Sel. My family's uncle lives near an ABRI dormitory in a small village, about 3 km from the town of Banjar Baru. Uncle house in the middle of a vast land surrounded by gardens split by small times. close to the paddy fields and not far from the edge of the swampy forest ..
Every day after school I go to the edge of the forest to search for firewood and look for fruits, with friends. Then every Sunday we go fishing and have to walk further down into the swampy dense forest. Forest with large tall trees but submerged waist-deep water up to adult neck ..
The distance from the house to the edge of the dry forest is about 2 km. For fishing must enter again about 1 km into the forest is submerged in water (swamp). All that we travel on foot through rice fields and paths.
It's a daily routine and weekly event with dormitory friends and native children, which is great fun.
In a few trips I took the time to make sketches on paper .. Even when sitting in Class 2 SMA (1974) I became a champion 1 painting South Kalimantan, my painting theme is Pending Intan that is active in the middle of nature, inspired from one of my sketches.
That's how since I was a kid I was very close and familiar with the natural atmosphere of the countryside, valleys, hills, rice fields, mountains, forests, swamps ... In fact, I arguably formed and grow wild with nature ..
When I first entered Bali (1977), I chose to live in the village on the edge of the rice fields near the river, which if bathed must go to the river, after passing and down the steep ravine ..
It became very natural if then I really like to paint nature, the object that I know very familiar ..
At the beginning at Sanggar Pejeng Bali, every morning and evening I painted out directly to the landscape object. Perhaps, the first years of life in Bali, the total cost of my life I got from selling landscape paintings. Naturally if I am very mastered painting the scene, in addition to painting figures or human faces. (Herri Soedjarwanto)
