Shattered Reflections
The image below is a representation of the Shadow Aspect of ourselves. The Shadow is the parts of ourselves that we hide from the world and ourselves. We lock it away, deem it bad, and thus it grows into a dark phantom. Some paths say to stay in the Light, but the truth is, you have to explore the Dark as well. Dark and Light are siblings, two sides of the same coin.
Society has deemed the Dark negative and that is why we find it so hard to face our Dark side. We look at our reflection and sometimes wish for the image to shatter, but sometimes that is what we must do. We must fall apart in order to throw out the old and what no longer serves us.
I personally love the Dark. I had to take a step back and embrace the Sun for a while in order to remember the Balance of the Cosmos. However, we have entered into the Dark half of the year and now it is time to explore inward once again...
It is in the great Darkness that the Stars shine bright. Remember to explore your Shadows to find your own Star.

Having a dark night of the soul is what heals wounds we did not even realize we were still hurting from. We have to see the dark to shine light on it. But we must see the dark first before we can do the light work.
Indeed you're so right! And sometimes we forget, referring to myself here, that it's a cycle. It comes and goes, but each time around it's something new to teach us how to progress onward.
