Vase. Pen drawing.
I created a surreal vase with a flower sticking out of it. I took a look at the columbine flower. Which has five petals and five pistils.
I must admit when I started this drawing I had no idea where it was going to go. I don't like to sit around and wait for a complete idea to form. If I don't have an idea at all, I will just start moving the pen around and see what happens. I started with the mouth in the shaft of the vase and let it grow from there. By the time I hit the building like structure I knew that I was going to make a surreal/abstract vase.
Columbine flower close up. This was probably the most enjoyable part to draw.
This is where I started the drawing without much of an idea of where it was going to go. The background cross-hatching took over 3 hours to do.
This is a 9x12" drawing. I used rotring isograph pens, and a sheet of bristol paper.

Thanks for checking out my work.
Amazing, the details are so great
So lovely and grim as usual, @achristopherart.... This time there is a bit of sharpness in the screaming mouth ... ! It is quite confronting. But the single stalk of the flower communicates so much.... specially since it's arching downwards, as if unable to soar or reaches for the sky, it seems like it's being pulled downwards by some grim forces...
