Here I am once again, hi people hope you’re having a nice day! This is my entry for today’s “Artstorm Contest #22 Day6 - Theme: Black & white Art”. This is called a silhouette creation. A silhouette is a image of a person, animal, object, or scene represented as a solid shape of a single color, usually black, with its edges matching the outline of the subject. The interior of the silhouette is featureless, and the whole is typical presented on a light background, usually white, or none at all. Silhouette cuttings originated in Europe in the early 1700’s. Lords and Ladies capturing the latest fashions and elaborate wigs. This art reached it’s “golden age” in the 1800’s. With scissor at hand a skilled specialist artist could cut a high - quality bust portrait, by far the most common style like this couple, in a matter of minutes. When I was a young child I had the privilege to witness a young lady who adopted the skills of a master silhouette cutter. I’ve never seen anyone since then not a master.
