ARTSCHOOL [ WEEK 1 HOMEWORK ] NEGATIVE SPACE!

in #artschool7 years ago

Hey guys Before I even start to begin to talk about anything I'd like to thank @beekart for organising a really cool post where you get drawing exercises to do and this is so good to me because lately i've been slacking on my studies and Im glad theres people like beekart that share his library of wisdom to everyone. These lessons art simple but boy were they more time consuming than i thought, not that its a bad thing but actually trying to study art actually drains you a wee bit, uses quite alot of brain power well for some one like me hahah.

Here are my sketches, I really really really want to get bet at Line confidence so I tried not to be back and forth sketchy and do my best to be clean. This exercise was to outline negative space and believe me its harder than it looks! especially when things overlap oh my lord. Welp I hope you all enjoyed this post and I'd sincerely reccomend you to join this and do art whether you're a beginner or expert just jump in theres nothing to lose at all!

Heya @lunaticmoon !
Thank you for participating! I hope you found it fun! :)

You said you wanted to train your lineart skill. I can see from the images what you mean, you seem to be using quite a bit of sketchy/short lines.
I will promise you that that will go away when you gain more confidence in your lineart.

Here is an exercise on how to train that.

I know this looks a bit strange.. You try to make a line in 1 go, containing spikey direction change and 1 round one.. The next line you draw you only look at the line you have just drawn (hope that makes sense) so you don't look at what you are drawing but do what you have just drawn. Sorry if im not making sense, please let me know ill try to explain it better :D!

Okay, now onwards to homework!

You have done well with the chairs! I cant spot a mistake in terms of the negative space, my only comment on it would be to try and keep the proportions a little better by being a bit more accurate.

The blind contours are done really well, as i told most people participating.. do more! It will improve your skill a ton.. Just keep at it, do more of those and you will notice you will become quicker, more accurate and cleaner! :)

I'm missing the hands (exercise #3) so if you have time please do those! They are alot of fun! :)

Again thank you for participating!

Cheers
