Fishermen by Ang Kiukok from 1981—Art critics contend that the early 1980’s comprise the best works of AngKiukok. This work of fishermen casting their nets with fishes is a most desired subject of the artist. Furthermore, the artist’s name “Ang” can be seen spelled out in the position of the fishermen.
Jose Joya, Carcass
Carcass by Jose Joya from 1962-—This work by Jose Joya was arguably the artist’s favorite then. He chose this work to represent him in the Venice Biennale in 1962.
Pilasa Bigas by Vicente Manansala 1979—Manansala was the most successful artist of his generation and he enjoyed the attention of the beautiful women of society who lined and paid homage to him in Binangonan. This work was among the most major pieces the artist created during that period. A masterpiece of the highest level.
Fabian de la Rosa, Hat Weavers
Hat Weavers by Fabian de la Rosa— No one knew that such masterpiece existed in the midst of Hollywood. This important work was acquired by the actor George O’Brian when he visited the Philippines before the war. There are 2 other known versions of this work in prestigious private collections.
Zurbaran II by Fernando Zobel from 1953—Fernando Zobel paid homage to different artists- from Velasquez to Goya, Turner up to his contemporaries. This particular work is his take on Francisco de Zurbaran’s Still-life, Oranges, and Rose in the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California. According to Don Rafael Perez-Madero, this work is a second version of another one in a prestigious private collection.
