We Need Evidence, for better Living , We need our practices to be eveidence based.
Farida stays with her Father and mother and her older brother. They are nomadic people and they love their cows ,they really Love their Cows alot, but the Cow is both a Solution to them as well as a source of their identity as well as a source of poverty! The Fulani people keep a Strong attachment to their tradition, which involves rearing of Cattle.. They are one of the poorest communities in Africa, Despite their great wealth of cattle, to sell their Cattle is bit Challenging for them.Africa has a lot of problems, It's time we start being the Solution and Stop waiting for the west to be that Solution. One of the best ways is how do we select which development project do we implement in Africa?.
It is for this reasons that we need evidence based decision from research to evidence synthesis and implement that will pull us out of the shackles of poverty.Evidence based decision making will help bring the right solutions to Farida's Family problem. It will informed the policy makers, Development Agencies on what ,how and when to implement a project. We cannot wait for the west to bring ready made solutions cooked in the Brettonwords Offices. Its time our own Scientists,Bring Solutions that will respect yet bring about sustanable Change in our communities..It is my hope that we help Farida's Family see that they can sell some of their Cattle and send their Children to School as well as maintain their Catlle. This is why evidence based decision making process can do.
