At CES this year, Nvidia chipmaker is presenting new technology that helps automakers to develop Artificial intelligence virtual assistants that are more smarter than the in-car versions of Siri and Alexa , we’re used to interacting with today.
During a press conference on Sunday, two new software were announced by Nvidia , a platforms for self-driving cars: Drive AR and Drive IX. To create artificially intelligent co-pilots , the former allows carmakers that take advantage of sensors both outside and inside of the car to provide assistance. Their first partner to test this system would be Volkswagen with Drive IX in its I.D. Buzz prototype.
And Yes , to identify the driver in order to accomplish tasks, AI co-pilots built on Drive IX would be able to use facial recognition like starting the car or checking whether or not the person behind the wheel is too heavy to drive. The system will also let automakers create voice-based controls and gesture for vehicles.
Another safety-boosting feature is offered by this new software: By using the car’s external or internal sensors, virtual assistants Drive IX- would be able to check and detect whether the driver is looking the other way when a pedestrian is steping out of the curb. Drive AR which is Nvidia’s another new software platform, which makes it possible to create augmented reality-based interfaces for auto companies for vehicles that shows notifications and points of interest.

These new capabilities will be powering by Nvidia’s new Xavier processor. The Calif.-based firm, Santa Clara, initially showcased Xavier in year 2016, but at CES just only said that its partners will start beginning to receiving the new processors this quarter.
