Low cost smart security technology

Improvement of technology makes the human daily life easier by means of newly developed smart systems. The rapid development of Internet technology and smart embedded systems has added a new dimension to these technologies, so the homes become more and more intelligent and developed technologies enable the user remote monitoring/control systems [1-2]. Leading and practical applications of these devices are smart home systems, which are the platforms communicating with user devices such as smart phone and/or computers. The communication between these appliances and various sensors, controllers and home devices is one of the main research areas in home automation systems. The smart home grids are installed using wired or wireless networks. Wired network costs are low however the lack of installation difficulties usually makes it the second option. The cost, power consumption and performance are the main selection criteria for wireless network nodes, which include popular technologies like Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi module, GSM network etc. [3-5]. The main features of these technologies are shown at Table 1. Bluetooth technology has lack of range and the one-to-one connection while it enables high data rate and low power consumption. Especially one-to-one connection feature limits its feasibility to implement in a smart home system. Although Zigbee has high range and low power consumption, its cost disables the extensive use, it also requires extra platform for Internet communication. Contrary.
