I wanted to draw something colorful for @juliakponsford's art explosion and what could be more colorful than a kimono-clad woman holding a bright lantern?

This is a quick doodle using ArtRage. I took up my pen and started doodling aimlessly. I love to draw people, so that was probably why I found myself sketching a woman's form.

I liked the random doodle so much, I decided to complete the picture.

Painting

Here is the actual process frame by frame.

^{I. Outline with chiseled black pen
II. Yellow watercolor for light.
III. Painted kimono and skin with watercolor. Pink airbrush for cheeks.
IV. Ink pen for kimono pattern. Orange watercolor for darker light.}

Lastly

I use a dark red airbrush around the circular yellow light for contrast.

All done! Just a doodle I liked. Take a bow, Mr. Lantern.
