Inspired by a book

This post contains spoilers about 'A tale of two cities'

The moment I read these words, there was only one book for me - A tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. A love story greater than Romeo and Juliet, because what is greater and more terrible than unrequited love?

When I read this as a fourteen year old , I thought why would Sidney Carter( sort of the hero) do this? ( He looks exactly like the guy who is married to the girl he loves, the guy is going to be killed so he switches places with him)

Why was he so stupid, clearly the "heroine" (Lucie) didn't love him?

And then I come to Madame DeFarge, ostentatiously the purveyor of wine in the poor subaurbs around the time of the French Revolution- The protagonist of the story is her fierce knitting. Behind every good revolution is a strong and silent woman.

The evil villain is a marquis, who says this gem which is still applicable in today's world:

"Repression is the only lasting philosophy. The dark deference of fear and slavery, my friend," observed the Marquis, "will keep the dogs obedient to the whip, as long as this roof," looking up to it, "shuts out the sky."

Though I think the villain is Darney ( Heroine's husband), because of his stupidity. More people would have been alive if the dude stayed at home. He is also the marquis' heir. Which was a bad thing during the french revolution.

Reminds you of someone ? history needs to get new plot lines, it is repeating the same scoobydooby plot

Turns out the motherly aunt like character - Madame DaFarge is handy with a dagger and a pistol, and would also put cryptographers out of a job. The heros and heroines of the world aren't glamorous Lucies , they are powerful, courageous women who stormed Bastille and are extremely good at knitting.

So I tried to draw a knitting pattern on photoshop, but I wanted to embed a code in it also.
The code I chose was a beautiful line from this book which I understood after going through the novel hell of unrequited love myself.

Sixteen years later I think Sidney was idealistic and stupid but man did he have some great mic drop moments.

This is one of them

What a great idea I love the knitted looking pattern, thanks for the entry!

Which raises the question, how many dreams have been of your soul, and was the first also the last?

Have not yet read Tale of Two Cities... considering it now.

The book maddens you and saddens you

I haven't read this book. I know it's a classic, but I am sorely lacking when it comes to the number of classics that I have read. I liked reading your thoughts on it, and the pains of unrequited love. That one could fill many books.

I wish you to know that you have been the last dream of my soul, in case it's hard to get for others too. Hehehe

Damn you @hispeeddimagins Madame DeFarge is out to get you
