A costume - Un disfraz

The concept of personality is an illusion, it's the word on which we pour the ideas of our parents, our teachers, our friends; everything they imagine we are and we end up identifying ourselves.

El concepto de personalidad es una ilusión, es la palabra donde volcamos las ideas de nuestros padres, nuestros maestros, nuestros amigos; todo lo que ellos imaginan que somos y terminamos identificándonos.

What we like tomorrow can change and do it again the next day, maybe we will not see it because we refuse to flow with the change. It is easier to think that this discomfort at some point will end, instead of living in the present, we put all our hopes into the future.

Lo que nos gusta mañana puede cambiar y volver a hacerlo al día siguiente, quizás no lo veamos porque nos negamos a fluir con el cambio. Es más sencillo pensar que ese malestar se nos va a pasar, en lugar de vivir el presente, volcamos todas nuestras esperanzas en el futuro.

We wish to stop feeling trapped, disguised as clowns perhaps. Stop feeling that cat fluttering around, reminding us that we aren't the disguise, does not represent us, and putting another one will not help us either.

Deseamos dejar de sentirnos atrapados, disfrazados como payasos quizás. Dejar de sentir ese gato revoloteando a nuestro alrededor que nos recuerda que el disfraz no somos nosotros, no nos representa, y ponernos otro tampoco nos ayudará.

We go through life laughing at bulldogs, at their cats, we make excuses. We keep an illusion to not release the past, to avoid the pain of going against what once made us well.

Vamos por la vida riéndonos de bulldogs, de sus gatos, nos creamos excusas. Mantenemos una ilusión para no soltar el pasado, para evitar el dolor de ir contra lo que alguna vez nos hizo bien.

Until we wake up, that cat will never leave us.

Hasta que despertemos, ese gato nunca nos va a dejar.

Process - Proceso

I wanted to practice what I learned in the first part of my tutorial series "How to draw animals", I chose the bulldog as a breed because its face always gives me the feeling of tiredness, something I feel quite often. The cat reminded me of my cat Minina, she was very bad with the other animals of the house and she could surely have done something similar to the illustration.

Quise practicar lo aprendido en la primera parte de mi serie de tutoriales "Cómo dibujar animales", elegí el bulldog como raza porque su cara siempre me transmite la sensación de cansancio, algo que siento bastante seguido. El gato me hizo acordar a mi gata Minina, era malísima con los otros animales de la casa y seguramente podría haber hecho algo parecido a la ilustración.
