Artchallenge #20 entry: Enjoying solitude in the sun

I am happy that the ARTCHALLENGE is back! @aksinya has chosen for #20 a surreal painting by Rafal Olbinski.

Here is my interpretation

Enjoying Solitude in the Sun

The woman is enjoying her solitude in the sun as she sunbathes on the beach. The red towel/blanket symbolises her passion and the sultry pose is very alluring to the man in the background who is desperately trying to get her attention by performing a trick that reminds me of something you can see at Sea World. The red hoop echoes the red towel and is also a symbol of the many hoops that the man has tried to jump through as he pursues the woman and tries to win her affection. The fact that he is wearing a formal tuxedo suggests he is a rich man and the red tie and belt also adds to the idea that he is looking for love.

The dolphin is usually thought to be a happy animal that represents renewal and rebirth. They are intelligent and graceful but when they are put in water parks and asked to perform, it may stifle their sense of freedom. Perhaps the woman is afraid she will become like the dolphin if she accepts the man. He will try to control her and force her to play the part of a trophy wife, parading around town on his arm. The fact that her eyes are closed is important because she wants to ignore the man. She's free and prefers it that way.
