The red-legged land turtle or morrocoy turtle (Chelonoidis carbonaria) is a terrestrial turtle native to the savannas and forests, from Panama to the Guianas, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and northern Argentina. In Venezuela and Colombia it is known as morrocoy sabanera (or simply morrocoy). It is popular as a pet.
