Gellatinous Cube - Expeditious Retreat PRess Art

There are several rather bizzare creatures in Dungeons and Dragons that were designed to be sort of dungeon obstacles or tricks and traps rather than there more general purpose monster counterparts. The gellatinous cube falls into the former category for sure. It is a sort of dungeon scavenger. While it is deadly indeed, it is perhaps even more effective at "cleaning up" the bits of treasure and detritus left over after an encounter. What a great way to frustrate a party! Here we have a group of adventurers encountering a gellationous cube whilst they are trying to figure out the best direction for them to head off in. Lucky for them that the cubes are pretty slow moving, but still, it is almost right on top of them! Happy gaming!
