Finding Inspiration For Your Next Art Project [random ramblings blog post]
While working on my next pastel, I decided to let off pressure by writing this blog post about some of my experiences with finding inspiration. Needing inspiration is something that many artists face. They have a deadline or they just want to produce something great but they don’t seem to find the idea that starts the ball rolling. Here are some ideas to find true inspiration for creating your next artwork:
• Museums. Visiting a museum can be one of the most inspiring things you can do. Just think of all the visionaries who submit their work there. All in one place you can garner a tons of ideas. Spend an afternoon relaxing at a museum. Stroll through the exhibits and let your imagination run wild. This can be the perfect inspiration for your next project.

• People-watching. People are interesting. Try perching at a coffee house with a cup of hot tea or coffee. Make sure you're location is in a high-traffic area so you get the most excitement. Think of the people around you and write their stories. Make them up. The purpose is to let your imagination work on building backstories. This can be a great way to start your creativity going.
• Nature. Mother Earth has some great inspiring pictures and they happen every day. Whether its raining or sunny, get outside and find some inspiration. You can watch a sunrise or sunset. Visit a lake. Travel to a forest preserve. Any of these things can be just what you need to come up with your own next great artistic idea.

• Books. Lay back on your favorite couch and pull out a book. There is a reason why so many people love to read—they know that books can be just the escape they need to relax. If you can use books to relax, you can let your mind go for a while. This may be just what you need to unwind and clear your mind.
• Road trips. Road trips are known to be lots of fun because of the new and unplanned experience. If you have a day or a week, you can schedule a visit at some new location. Let the newness inspire you and your next art work. You don’t even have to pick a specific area—wherever the day takes you can sometimes be a great choice.

Finding inspiration can be a task because every artist suffers from mind-block here and there. The good news though is that there are plenty of places to find inspiration. The goal is to detach and take the pressure off. Instead of focusing on a deadline or what “must” be done, reframe the issue. Rather than focusing on the pressure, forget about it! Just experience something new without any pressure. This is the best way to find the inspiration you need to create your next favorite piece of artwork.
