art Studio Update #27
Alright so I went a different direction than I planned with my last studio update. I was going to buy neon paints and follow the example I made in flash. I went to Home Depot and they don't sell spray paint in the city of chicago OR any neon colored paints whatsoever. Instead I picked up a bunch of "oops" paint that they sell for $0.50.
I got a little gnarly and started treating my living room like a real art studio by throwing some paint around. This one turned out great. Here was the painting taped off before I did a number on it.
My work has been kind of uptight this past year. My work is about the covering up of information, So I think I am going to leave these paintings with the tape on them. I like the masking tape color. its a nice neutral color. It feels good to get my flow back.
This painting will get the platter treatment when it dries. Its interesting to make the taped off shapes and then just ignore the fuck out of them. Its cool because I COULD take the tap off if i wanted and all the paintings would be united in their last layer. I still might do this. Who knows maybe I could have a show called "DISCLOSURE" and remove the tape during a live event.
Here I got taping off another biggun, this ones getting spattered.
I'm taking big risks with this work now. I will see where this takes me. Upvote this post and leave a comment letting me know what you think and I will reciprocate with a $0.15 upvote. Tanks for stopping by my studio.
I love the process of art as much as the finished piece. It's wonderful, as an artist, to have that power. WE can build and layer and then decide to remove or add as we so wish. I can't wait to see what you decide and what the result will be.
love this direction!
Thanks yeah im gettin mixed reviews from people on instagram mainly DAVE but what does he know right
