The Elf Ring
One day, a beautiful girl named Marlechen was walking along a dirt and dust road, very close to the grove that led to the chestnut forest near her house.
Around this place, carriages used to take travelers from one town to another. She was distracted thinking about her things, but something caught her attention. In the gutter he saw a bouquet of flowers that someone had thrown without contemplations. The colorful petals opened to the sun and gave off a delicious aroma that reminded Marlechen of vanilla.
The girl felt very sad to see so much beauty abandoned. He took the little branch and, with great delicacy, nailed it to the edge of a stream so that it would stay fresh and recover all its splendor. She was so absorbed in contemplating the flowers that she jumped when a little elf came out of them, no bigger than a thumb. The creature smiled, gave him a nice wink and whispered in a soft and warm voice:
- Thanks, Marlechen!
The girl was amazed, she had never met any elf in the forest! With his eyes wide and his mouth wide open, he saw the strange being remove the crown of light that he wore over his head and turn it into a gold ring so fine that it was practically invisible.
- Here, this ring is for you! Always carry it on your finger. Every time you look at it, your eyes will shine and everyone around you will feel happy and happy.
And without saying more, the elf disappeared as if by magic. Marlechen returned to his house fascinated by the curious gift he had received from the little man with pointed ears who had come out of the flowers.
As soon as he arrived, he heard screams echoing in the dining room. His family had engaged in an argument and it seemed that everyone was in a very bad mood.
