DIY: christmas bookmarks
We miss only a month for Christmas, so I thought to share this tutorial I did last year to give you ideas for presents.
I creates some watercolors bookmarks for my friends, they are easy to do and also lovely to see.
You need:
- watercolor paper (you can use economic one around 220gr at least, but better with 300gr.)
- rulers and masking tape
- watercolors and brushes
- glitter glue
- transparent adhesive paper
- a hole punch (eventually)
- ribbons (eventually)
Let's start
The size I chose was 5 cm x 20 cm, but you can use the size you want.
I drew some Cristhmas decorations on them looking on internet for references. To work easier, I cut each bookmark with 1 cm border and stick them on my working desk with the masking tape. This way if the color shades outside the border it won't spoil the other bookmarks.
When I finished to draw, I colored the drawings with the watercolors. I used warm colors such as yellow and red and cold colors like green or blue to keep them simple.
It didn't took me a lot to color each bookmark, I just added one layer of paint.
When the watercolor dried, I added the glitter glue on them.
After the glue dries, you can plastify the bookmarks with the transparent adhesive paper. If you plan to add the ribbon, cut the hole before you put the adhesive, it will be easier to cut it later.
And voilà, the bookmarks are done in less then a day.
I made a speedpaint video where I color them and put the glue, you can watch it here:
