Today’s progress with needlepoint
I’m almost done with my current project! Hooray!
Boredom has not set in with this large projects and I feel excited whenever I have the opportunity to sit down to work on it. There does seems to always be a distraction that keeps me from getting it done faster. Yesterday, it was a spontaneous hangout with my mom, today it was Magic. Fitting in a round of Magic wasn’t planned since I left all my cards at home but I somehow won, beating @tarotbyfergus with his own deck! It was nuts.
After the game, I moved tables, set up my iPad to stream anime and got to stitching.
The newest additions since my last progress photo would be the French knot blossoms, a vine, pinwheel roses and tassel flowers. The knots needed to be made carefully, if I used too much strength then the floss would be pulled through thus losing the ‘knot’ appearance and forcing me to start again. The other additions weren’t in my original sketch but figured it would be fun to try something new and to add more textured elements in the process.
I had my doubts about the flowers. I know the fringe looks wild on the tassel flowers but I opted to keep it that way. They actually required more patience to make than the French knots. It’s kind of hard to explain how they’re made so I’ll try sharing video gifs in the future. I could also do a livestream with my next project since it’s hard to stop working to take progress shots.
Next up, adding cool tones. The warm colors seemed to overpower the cool so I’m sewing clustered blue flowers to the mix. Later on, I’d like to add two larger elements to the upper left and bottom right to balance and complete this project. If I continue to work through the night then I’m sure I could get it done.

Wow! You have some really good goblen skills! It is a lot of different techniques you are using! How long do you do this? It is beautiful, but also, you have a good planning and it is very neat.

The tassle flowers are amazing! They are like my pinks (or dainthus) in my garden. One of my faves. This is really getting lovelier and lovelier.
