“Hidden agenda” - I’ve got an idea for a new series/contest that I’d like to release with SBD prizes
I’ve seen a lot of my favorite Steemit artists sharing drawn images of characters in motion. I’ve spent the past year getting to know the human face and now I want to improve in other areas too!
My plan for the night was to start drawing a super-villain for @kommienezuspadt’s Trial by Comics but I ended up taking a break from it after several failed attempts. I'll try again another day. I wanted to sketch my villain in an awesome action pose but felt extremely intimidated. Why are these characters so muscular??? 😩It’s like they know my weakness in anatomy...

I started to sketch again after a few moments of self reflection. I need to practice so that's exactly what I'm going to do. I pulled up a few images of action poses and started to do some warm up drawings. I eventually got bored so I decided to switch my pencil color to purple and this sketch kind of happened. I’ve included a short hyperlapse video below.
I enjoyed this sketch so much that I came up with a new concept for a series of sketches that I want to create. The idea is to produce a series of sketches that will leave you curious about the story behind the image. I’ll be tuning in my skills with expression and gradually learning new skills along the way.
I also want to call on all the brilliant writers and invite you all to writing short stories to go along with these images. I haven’t really thought too hard about prizes but I love interacting with everyone here on Steemit and I figured it would be fun to create something together.

This chick is looking awesome! I would totally flex my writing muscles for you. Contests can be so fun to host. I was thinking about a smutty story contest lately - I was doing a dirty joke contest but finding something original, I think is hard for joke contests. So now I am swirling a naughty fantasy writing contest around my head. I was wondering if I can help with promotion and be a patron to this contest because it sounds pretty sweet....might you help me with my smut contest later? I can not promise it will be classy... but it might be a treat.
It wont be for a bit cause I am drowning in backlogs of post art.... but its cumming hehe.
I'd love to collaborate! Are you on Steemit.chat?
I am - sometimes I don't check my email regularly for notifications so give me a "poke" if I don't reply right away and I'll go check.
Gotcha!
Nice sketch. Don't give up you are almost there.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Love the sketch @vermillionfox, your art skills are already boss, can't wait to see your progress! I actually like how skinny your concept villain is, I think it would be rad to do a super villain that is like unhealthily skinny, but I guess that would require it's own stylizing of skeletal and muscle. Can't wait to see the progress on this!
Thanks @dexter-k! I wouldn't be surprised if my sketches started looking similar to Tim Burton's stuff!
This actually isn't my super villain sketch. I gave up on that. 🙃 I'm gonna try again later and I also realized that I was sleepy writing. I did go back to edit this post and added a few things.
I've seen your posts it's so wonderful and greats
Thank you.

STOPHeya cool sketch! :) have you tried sketching your gesture in basic shapes first? It helps quite alot for your mind to 'feel' the shapes in a 3d space.

I have. I was actually doing these earlier before this drawing but I find that when I have an idea of something I'd like to draw then I break all form and start with the facial features. 😭 I need to try harder to not stray from the poses and force it into my brain until it clicks.
Yeah i guess! :D when you work digitall just put the pose gesture sketch thing on a seperate layer and make it very transparent, in the end you can just hide it and it looks all awesome ^^
I will give it a go! I'm definitely overthinking it. I'm going to spend my time looking for some books.
check out my last post, I got some suggestions for books and stuff in there. might help! :D I know the Andrew loomis books I mention helped me aloootttt
Ouhhh. Intesting... That's a cool pose and great challenge idea. I'm always interested in story telling projects. For the story I see it about a young detective on a quest for truth. She is about to pull out a huge gun as she notices a threat behind her. She's not your usual private detective... She tracks glitches in the multiverse...
I'm glad that you're interested!! I'm going to make a separate post with finalized details and rules. Hold that thought and keep a lookout for it! :D
Again and again I am really impressed with your drawing skills. The way you create this figure is quite amazing and I like the idea of having someone to add the story... to bad I'm not a writer. Love the music with the video!
Thank you! I can up with the idea after staring at the finished drawing. I'm hoping to get something new and fun started. Plus it'll force me to draw creative poses each week.
