TRAVELING #42: "High road for the world's longest bike in China"

in #art7 years ago

Most densely populated cities give priority to building highways for cars. However, in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, cyclists have their own separate route to avoid congestion.

Located in Fujian province, China, the overhead bicycle route named Xiamen stretches for nearly 8 kilometers and enough room for 2,023 bicycles to operate at the same time.

The route is 5 m above the ground, just below the high BRT bus.

Xiamen has interchanges where bikers can use public transport.

These unique lanes appear throughout the city, designed in large spiral form to gradually increase the slope.

Most of the major cities' infrastructure is prioritized by the needs of car users. However, some places have built separate lanes for bicycles and improved public transport.

This route not only helps people move more conveniently, but also creates a unique character for the city.

According to Dissing + Weitling Architecture, the Danish design group building this project, this is the longest bike ride on the world.
