Collage Workshop - Let's Do it Together

in #art7 years ago

I want to share with you, how to do the Collage Painting.

A few years ago I was attending a collage workshop with one of the very good Canadian artist.
We have a small class and he gave us the introduction how to do the collage using the paper.

You can see here the set up table for the still- life as reference for the collage painting.

After all, everybody did the still -life in very differently way. Here you can see my collage with black pot and bottle.

How I did it?
First you have to prepare your own papers, just apply paint on the white paper and let it dry completely.

You can use also any kind of papers- craft paper, japanese paper and so on.

Very good exercise is to have reference with any printed photo, preferable black and white and try to make the colorful collage with papers, like I did here - colorful cityscape.

Another very good exercise to learn about the composition. On the photo you will see four different compositions and the teacher gave us very short time to finished all four collage paintings.

I was using craft paper and matte medium for gluing the paper for this exercise.

On the table you can see all my tools, papers, glue, masking tape, scissors and more.
Well, when collage workshop was done I had a very big mess in my workplace.
