in #art8 years ago

Today guys I'm gonna show you how to edit your pictures on adobe photoshop to achieve a double exposure effect.

example1.jpg

This can be handy when you are trying to make cover photo or just want to play and experiment with your photos

Let me show you guys how easy this is to manipulate your photos.

First, open the photo in adobe photoshop. Then click the channels tab.

1.jpg

Select the channel that will give more contrast to the picture.

2.jpg
Then duplicate that channel.

3.jpg
Then select that channel and click "Image" then "levels". Or just press CTRL+J.

5.jpg
Then adjust the levels to achieve the right contrast.

6.jpg
Then using a brush color the parts of the subject with black make sure not leave any white parts on it.

7.jpg
It should like this.

8.jpg
Then click the RBG channel to select all channels.

9.jpg
Then hold CTRL and click the duplicated channel. And you will see that you have selected the subject of the photo.

10.jpg
Then click "Select" followed by inverse.

11.jpg
Press CTRL+C to copy the selected item and then CTRL+V to paste it to a new layer. Add another layer then fill it with white

12.jpg
Open the background photo that you prefer then add that on another layer.

14.jpg
Put that layer on top then hold CTRL then select the the thumbnail layer of the subject then click ad mask.

15.jpg
Then click the chain symbol to unlink the layers. Make sure the background layer is selected.

16.jpg
Click "edit" then transform and then scale to adjust the position of the background layer. Or just press CTRL+T.

18.jpg
Then press enter when its done.

19.jpg
Copy the the subject layer by pressing CTRL+J.

20.jpg
Put that layer on top the other layers.

21.jpg
Select that layer, and click "Image" then adjustments then desaturate to make the image black and white. Or just press SHIFT+ CTRL+U.

22.jpg
Click normal and change it to "Multiply".

23.jpg
So It will look like this.

24.jpg
Select add mask.

25.jpg
Make sure that the mask is selected.

27.jpg
Then go to brush tool. Pick a soft brush with 0% hardness then select the black color.

26.jpg
Use the brush on the image so that you can erase the other parts of the image exept the features of the face.

28.jpg
Then change the background to the color that you prefer.

29.jpg
Copy the background photo.

30.jpg
Blur the background by selecting "image" then blur and Gaussian blur.

31.jpg
Then add mask as well on this layer. Again go to brush tool and use that to make the subject visible.
