Peace Lily Sketches - Weekly Sketch Contest
All design or artwork starts with one or more ideas. One of the most common ways to explore these ideas is through sketching. Sketching is a phase where nothing is decided yet and subjects are studied, altered and merged. As ideas become clearer, sketches move from the freedom of possibility into a realm where options are ruled out and end results come more and more into sight.
@dcrockete has started the first of a series of weekly contests where artists and designers showcase their sketches. I've decided to enter with these studies of the peace lily flower that I've since based several prints on. Some of the detail unfortunately has gone lost in the scanning and editing of the sketches.
I thought it would also be nice to add the final print that was created based on these sketches. Below is one of the finished peace lily prints. I've used more or less the same the method I described in my Water Lily Print - Phase Two: Digitization and Colouring post to turn the pencil sketches into digital elements. From there I've taken the elements to create a repeating peace lily pattern.
I look forward to regularly sharing my sketches either as part of the Weekly Sketch Contest or otherwise.

Yes, that's a great idea! So you'll have 4 weekly winners resulting in another monthly winner. It will be a nice way for the weekly winners to engage with each other's work.
