beautiful collection well done ☺

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit](https://steemit.com) Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

This message was created by a bot. It is part of the ongoing fight against spam and phishing attacks on steemit. If you did not use short links in your post and feel you have received this message in error you can contact @fubar-bdhr on discord or @fubar.bdhr on steemit chat to report the issue.

The short link is to Google Maps specific location of the address provided.
https://goo.gl/maps/Hbhz5f1h6dy
If I included the "long" link it would take up the entire page!

If you had paid attention (and I realize, robots are incapable of paying attention) you would notice that when you hover over the link, in this case the specific address, you will see that it is a link to Google maps. And if your attention span was long enough, you would also see that this link is a secure https link !!!!! I advise you (or the bot creator @fubar.bdhr , for that matter) to re-calibrate.
There are no other "short links" in this post.

you had too many beers, you idiot bot!

This is just informative for those reading. You can still use the short link. People have lost accounts to phishing sites recently via short links so this is just to let them know they can be misused by some people. I may in the future add a different message for specific google site short links or not comment at all. This comment part of this bot isn't even a day old yet so still has some growing to do.

maybe I rely too much on thinking https is secure - so what good does it do to have SSL? For shortened links, any YouTube share link is a shortened link! So are share links to Flickr images and albums. If I give you the full URL of Google map coordinates that might also include information how to get from point A to point B in various ways and by different modes of transportation, how sure can you be that in this full, mile-long URL there are not codes hidden that could be harmful? Only your Security Software will know, and anyone that is out and about on the internet without one is a fool. Hover over the full link to a site and it wouldn't tell you if it is secure. Just because the link is not shortened is no guaranty it is safe.

While it's true there is no guarantee of safety it does help to notify people to be a bit more cautious. After some of the feedback from you and some other things I've noticed I will be adding exceptions for some known things once I confirm a few things. Also things like youtube and reddit short links aren't even being checked for at this time. This was just an initial trial run with a few common short url sites. Some of my lists already need to be converted to dictionaries to make exceptions easy to configure. Once that upgrade is done it will allow for exceptions to short urls as well.

since @beerbot posted a update just recently, I was curious and looked further into shortened url, and I found that google always is https whereas on the other hand Bitly turns any https url into a shortened http - so maybe see if this can be worked into your algorythm. However, I tested Google's own URL shortening service, and it turned my non-SSL url int a https short url goo.gl - so maybe you are right, there is no way of telling what is safe. This goes back to what I said earlier: you need a good security software, ecause even in a long url, do you know what codes are hiding? Like if you copy something off a Facebook post, there is a shitload of code after a ?, which are mostly cookies to make sure you get bombarded with advertisement, but it could also be something more sinister. You also get those url's with a ? when you subscribe to a email reader service from any website, news site etc: again, could be just cookies, but how do you know? When I pass on links I usually clean out the ? and anything that follows after.
Bottom line: anyone who is on the net without a good security software is a fool!

you got to be kidding @fubar-bdhr - where in the above comment you flagged do you find any kind of URL, let alone a shortened? The only URL in that particular comment is @beerbot - so what? You flagged yourself?

Nicely done! Wishing you much success Otto!
