"These smaller forms of amalgamate are one of the most unpleasant. As the amalgamate tends to avoid killing creatures, it often instead assimilates them alive and the parasites are the most notorious example of this behavior. Their function is simple, to attach themselves to the head and from there to the brain and spine of the host creature. This in turn will turn the host into a sort of a zombie controlled by the amalgamate in matter of seconds. After awhile the host will begin to fall apart as the amalgamate begins to take over more of the host, their shape beginning to take more features of this alien organism.
