I thought this was pretty funny. Yes, you get to be really powerful, but it doesn't last long. That means you have to make it count. I think some people will lease SP on an alternate account and use that account to boost their main. Then they don't appear to be self-voting.

Steem could allow a much more direct link between creatives and patrons. Any time you're giving an upvote to someone, you're saying that you appreciated their content and you want to reward them for it. The reward encourages them to produce more of the same. By skipping the middle-man and the advertisers, content can be much more customized and personal. There's also more connect between the artist and patron.

Here's to hoping that more people join who have skills and talents that they can monetize. That will add more value to the platform and increase the value of our stakes.
