Sunday Movie Club to dazzle dazzle as live “Chicago” screening goes burlesque
High camp and low brow, Sunday Movie Club pumps fresh life into cult classic film favourites. As the projector rolls, live acts from some of Melbourne’s best burlesque performers, drag queens, madcap MCs and cabaret misfits bring the action off the screen.
In the 2002 film adaptation of smash-hit musical Chicago, Roxie Hart dreams of being a star on stage no matter what the cost, and all that Jazz.
Wyndham Cultural Centre’s Chicago will be brought to life with sizzling burlesque routines from some of the brightest stars of Melbourne’s burlesque scene including Stella De Lure, Miss Holly Wouldn’t, Camilla Cream and the inimitable Ira Luxuria, Sunday Move Club host and finalist of Miss Burlesque Victoria 2019.
This special movie event will also include sing-alongs, costume competitions, games, a generous helping of comedy and $2 popcorn.
Arts, Culture and Heritage Portfolio Holder Cr Tony Hooper said Sunday Movie Club events have been a huge hit with audiences and believed Chicago would wow the crowd.
“Most of our shows, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show have had record sales, so make sure you book early for this legendary show,” Cr Hooper said.
“It’s great to see the audience members dress up and feel like they are part of the performance.”
Chicago will be showing at the Wyndham Cultural Centre, Sunday 9th June at 7pm. Tickets are $15, on sale now at www.wyncc.com.au.
