Art - VENOM - Tom Hardy (showing step by step process) quick tutorial

Hello people! Today I made a VENOM illustration, related to the up and coming movie of the same name.

I just love Venom as an anti-hero since my early years as a child. I was training basketball and my friend there brought me two comic books since he was visiting America. One was Deadpool and the other one was Venom, I think it was lethal protector, some part of it. I heard that this movie is in fact based on that Venom story arc, so that was a great surprise, since i loved it so much.

Anyway, here's the art:

I had my doubts about this movie and I still have them but c'mon that's Tom Hardy, he rarely does not deliver with his movies or TV shows. I think he chooses projects quite carefully and that trailer still seems just lake a tease. Which is better in my own opinion, I don't like when people spoil it too much with them trailers.

Cant wait to go and see this one!

Here is the process with a quick tutorial/explanation:

All was done in Photoshop with a small drawing pad I got used to...

These are just the basic lines in one layer, I looked at Tom Hardy picture while I illustrated this and added a bit of Venom transformation right ahead...

Beefed it up a bit with a dose of details and the simbiote taking over...

Still working in one layer, adding details and stuff I add, you may have noticed that my illustrations tend to have a lot of round shapes like ink spills, I just love using that, adds a bit to the uniqueness...

Here I just added plain colors in a separate layer below the original one with line art...

And BOOM! Finished it with a bit of shadowing in a separate layer above the plain color one with dark ones. After that one on top of the previous one with white. Added a bit of textures, worked on lines to correct some mistakes and splashed that simbiote all over the place!
