Art contest: Abstraction - Life of a Tree

It is called Life of a Tree, I went with a tree then mirrored it and connected two images as I wanted to make the trees connect in a weird kind of way, trough their dark wholes filled with nothingness or maybe life?

Anyway, all is done digitally with a help of a drawing pad, below is the process of making it:

The sketch with rough lines

Added basic colors here.

Added minor effects on top of the color.

All done with shadows on top of arranged color.

Now after all that we have a final result below.

I just mirrored the image as that was the intention all along, and connected the trees with hard black lines, so they could connect their shadows, ground symbolizes another tree, from which these two are growing hence that kind of lines!
