Green Skull: Oil painting on wood step by step
This was the first skull in a series I did on 5"x 5" round pieces of wood. I used wet on wet alla prima style to do this piece.
It ended up a little more gestural than normal for me which I really liked. I get so absorbed into details sometimes.
I started with a rough drawing on the wood and then did an under-painting in thinned Burnt Sienna and a little Ivory Black.
I had a pre-mixed batch of various greens I planned to use and just went at it putting them on somewhat thick in areas.
Then it was a matter of adding and pushing and blending the colors.
More blending and adding colors.
The first and final images are a better representation of the actual color.
Great, I love seeing the process.
Thanks, me too!
