The Serpent Prince workflow

Hello there, I see that you really liked my "Serpent Prince" artwork, so I did small picture collection about the workflow and what is happening in my head in the meantime.
(it's not that scary) :D
The work progress and the process of making most of my art.
(when I'm in workflow I usually forgеt to take pictures) But I try my best to make documentation of it... sorry for the sloppy pictures in advance :(

At first, the idea of the serpent prince was to be a woman, and I was thinking of a wicked crown that expresses the mood that this character should have.

but then i decided that a man face would be more epic if there is no existing expression. Just a badass stone-cold killer look, It was pretty hard for me to decide what kind of eyes I wanted for him, so I took the 2 of my best ideas and implemented them in the art.CAM01037.jpg
I wanted to give the expression of a warrior, A being that will never crack even in the face of death. Ruthlessness, cunning, and pure controlled anger were the emotions that I was looking for.

Status check. This drawing taught me to give my mind time not looking at the piece that I am working on. Then you can see the mistakes easily... (after I finished it)

CAM01046.jpg
The shoulder armor was designed like his flesh, yet massive. I wanted to create the feeling like he is naked, but not vulnerable. (as you can see I have cable fetish)

CAM01048.jpg
The spikes are not so useful in practical armor. Who needs a practical stuff when is this badass? (my lines were not the best back then) Also the shapes are designed to take up the visual space, cause spikes have the effect of making smaller stuff look larger (and badass)

(so called)Pro tip- if you don't know how to continue an art project, just check the anatomy, you will never be disappointed!
The idea is that you can find the missing detail, the detail that you can't think of in nature cause in nature everything is practical and functional.

CAM01052.jpg
The throne phase. Here I was going for the kill, I needed to see my baby finished and shiny. But I had to hold my self back cause in this phase usually, I screw things fast and bad. (those of you who are in art know that feeling)

CAM01053.jpg
I wanted to connect the throne with the Prince like they are unseperatable. But there was a chance of stealing the spotlight instead of supporting the composition. So the decision was MORE CABLES :D

CAM01054.jpg
The shadows behind him are helping the image to pop up even more,

and for the details to be more readable. The cable's design was less organic than the cables in the Prince, so there was a clear visual separation. (The hype at this point was going thru the roof)

Aaaand it's done... I don't remember the time that piece took but it was alot...
