RE: An original Drawing: Insight & Marvel

It is the future for art, to be sure: to make works that serve healing or realigning to one's personal impulse. (Liane Collot d'Herbois was a great practitioner of that. She painted quite a few roses for people)

I suspect that art can be many things. I've done it too, on occasion but, actually, it's a pity to define anything that can be more than one thing.

.... Which in itself is a fairly arrogant or purist take! Good for you!
When it comes to living off art though it becomes a more difficult inquiry to make: what can art be and serve so that artists can live off it? It doesn't encourage artists when art has to be or do something, you are quite right in that, of course! Only so many artists have no choice (to work commercially and for a market of tastes/trends). That is a pity, indeed.

Oh, but art in the western society has been lifted up immensely, and it has to be. That is also what helped give birth to a wider range and inspired such a development!
Sometimes, we give something importance, and then it truly becomes important.
I do think it is possible (and important!) to keep both alive.
To remember truth & simplicity, but also embrace magic & mythology (the lifting up of something to another level). This goes for art, for life, for everything!

This is a huge topic, I am probably not making any sense at the moment... Sorry if that's the case!
