RE: Handmade Colourful Wire Figures

Very creative. Sometime the small stuff sells like crazy because everybody wants to buy SOMETHING and not go home empty handed from a place as cool as Greenwich Market. You never know. Plus some landlords actually work for variety and a certain mix and not just for getting the most rent. But these are things I say that make younger people roll their eyes...

So when you say "younger" people steven-partrick. What sort of age are we talking about here?

This landlord definitely looks for variety. All stalls are vetted and if someone else is already selling what you sell you won't get one. 😊

I'm just saying there aren't many old school retailers left. And part of retail is shopping centers or destinations with an interesting tenant mix. In the US, all the small shopping centers that used to have a baker, a butcher, a pharmacy, a card shop, a gift shop, a coffeeshop, maybe a shoe store, mens clothing store, dress shop, that type of tenant mix are gone. Those store fronts now have dollar stores, massage parlors, check cashing stores, martial arts studios, kiddo tutoring, etc. Landlords are just looking for a paying tenants.

That's probably the same in most urban shopping streets here but there are markets like this one and something specific areas that have a good mix of shops. Although they tend to be one offs rather than grocers, bakers etc.

Mind you, where I leave is an exception. We have many artisan bakeries, a butcher, a micro-brewery, independent clothes shops and even an iron monger. It's not the norm nowadays though.
