Wire Art - Palm Tree Wall Decor
Wall Decor, 18" x 24" x 2". As per these dimensions, you can see that this is a not a flat piece, it raises about 2" from the surface. It is very hard to take a good picture of it, I tried with two different backgrounds, still doesn't make justice. :)
Anyway... like any other artist out there, I am inspired by Mother Nature. Palm trees always fascinated me. Here is a beautiful photo of a majestic palm-tree I took in the Caribbean.

My wire palm tree is a very happy tree. This is the message I am sending through this piece of art: happiness. My palm tree is dancing! Dance is a form of happiness, don't you agree? Look how the bottom branches touch the trunk of the tree. It is a dancer pose! The tree is sliding its trunk to the left and to the right, like a belly dancer!

It’s got a lot of movement. How much wire does a sculture like that take?
Thank you @randomphandom for seeing the movement. It is hard to see it in the picture. It is more ‘alive’ in person because it is ‘raised’, it has depth. How much wire? This one is not too big, I buy wire from the hardware store, inexpensive... I used about 2 packs of 24 gauge. And a few feet of 16 gauge.
It's so hrd to get a photo of art that does the art justice.
I love wire sculpture, here in South Africa it is a popular medium for street vendors to create amazing artworks.
A traditional south african handmade wire toy car made out of metal and copper wire with tin cans as wheels.
It all started with these wire toy cars, that children in rural areas made fro themselves to play with.
Then adding beads to create colourful decor pieces.
