Late Night Art Tales. Minimalist Meaningfulness.
Minimalism. It isn't about cool couches, empty lofts or "Zen" bathrooms. For me its about simple efficiency, or efficient simplicity.
Modernity can fulfill endless wants. Luckily in this country, the US, we have a very stable life for the most part. We fill our lives and homes with stuff. Every month there's a brand new gadget or object that will definitely make us happy this time. This happiness is fleeting though. Like a nice breeze on an azure summer day.
Although compared to most of human history we live better lives than kings, I believe that the blind accumulation of stuff isn't ideal for a healthy mind. I truly believe that your environment is a catalyst either for creation or slow destruction. All these "things" create an existential weight on the mind.
There is a joke about how you have to be rich to be a minimalist. The desperation of poverty tends to create an anxiety about getting rid of stuff. The pain of loss aversion is much more apparent and I completely understand.
But if you live a life above the poverty line yet feel an existential weight weighing down your psyche, the first thing you can do is take an inventory of your stuff. Figure out what you haven't used in ages and maybe decide to donate it. There are plenty of thrift stores or other places that will gladly take your donations.
With all that in mind, I created some minimalist art. 7 simple line pieces, with simple colors and a 23 count kaleidoscopic effect. Get rid of your useless stuff and take a step towards contentment.
Infinite Lovewaves.
@soundwavesphoton I begin to love art like never before. My art life is really going deeper and the more I associate with people of like mind the more I am getting better. Although I am an engineer by pretty profession but that does not stop me in adding value to myself. Buddy what app do you use to made all this images.
Thank you so much for checking it out @samest. I used 2 apps to create these images. The first one is called "tapet" and the other is "mirror lab". Check em out, I look forward to see what you can create.
Yes! ❤ I believe us as Americans are way to wrapped up in "stuff". People go into debt just trying to keep up with all the newest gadgets. I agree that being minimalist is good for your mind and soul....along with your bank account. Great post.
Thank you @llfarms. We do have an epidemic of stuff. Trying to live with whats only useful or with what truly brings you joy is much better for mental health. Also debt is horrible, they make it so easy.
Your content is very good, I love it
Thank you :)
Wow nice approche of minimalist art !
For minimalism as a lifestyle I've been really interested in since I've seen "The minimalists" on Netflix and also listen to their podcast ! I found that it helps refocus on important stuff in life, way more important than physical goods
Yeah it helps create a clear mindset and that is priceless. Thanks for the comment and upboat :)
2,4, & 7 are my favs. And I agree. Too much stuff weighs us down, clutters our space and the mind.
Exactly. I donated a ton of stuff yesterday and it felt great. My workspace is much less cluttered. Thanks for the comment and the upboat, many lovewaves :)
I've really appreciated Kon-Mari's method of only keeping the things that bring you joy. Getting rid of the rest is such a load off the shoulders!
Yes it truly is a weight off your shoulders. I'll have to look up Kon-Mari but I definitely agree. Thanks for the support and the comment.
The fractals are brilliant as usual, but I love the philosophy behind them too. Stuff is just stuff in the end, which is why I rather spend my money on experiences than things. I live a somewhat frugal lifestyle but I'm happy and you can't put a price on peace of mind.
Yeah experiences last longer than most things haha. You hit it on the head "you can't put a price on peace of mind". Thanks for stopping by and your awesome comment.
Been doing this since I got back from a year long trip in my VW Van and found that I had a garage full of stuff I hadn't used in a year... bye bye stuff... The guys at goodwill call me "Nature Girl" haha...
Yearlong VW trip? Awesome! Yeah I got rid of a bunch of stuff yesterday and there is a bit of a liberating feeling. Well that's a cool nickname. Thanks for the comment and upboat Nature Girl :)
