"MacLeod!" - Watercolor - 2018

The 31st at night, while the fireworks exploded in the sky, at my house we decided to watch a movie that, now, giving it a good thought ended being very symbolic: Highlander.

Highlander tells the story of Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert), a highlander (as scottish once were known) of the XVI century that, in the middle of a battle between his clan and another rival, results mortally wounded. All of his family are sad before the irreversible of his wound but something unexpected happens, Connor comes back like nothing happened. On the contrary of the society we live today, eager for miracles, in the old Scotland, they consider this a matter of the devil.
His wife who was so afraid of him getting hurt in battle now despised Connor, she didn't want him being exiled, she wanted his head. However, the leader of the clan forgives him and that's where the story really kicks off.

MacLeod now away from his clan, starts a new family with a beautiful woman (Beatie Edney) -which I'm madly in love hahaha- and one day out of the blue Ramirez (Sean Connery) appears to warn him that he isn't the result of a demon or nothing similar, he is immortal too and he always was. Ramírez persuades MacLeod to train to fight other immortals because everyone feels the desire of holding the supreme power, a power only allowed to the last immortal.

I won't tell you how the movie continues but the most interesting of the film is that these fragments I just told you about, are interleaved with the present (1986) because Connor keeps fighting immortals.

The present pieces I found it very influenced by Terminator and that's really positive, maybe the only thing I didn't like as much is that the movie is set in the USA but who knows why only small scenes are really located there, this gets more evident when you hear speak the supporting actors, everyone has english accent or even french! Surprising but real.

An extremely entertaining movie that left us something wonderful, a soundtrack fully composed by Queen, I personally love Princes of The Universe, the song that promoted the movie but I can't stop mentioning A kind of Magic and Who Wants to Live Forever.
