Dear Crypto-Art Fans,

I recently discovered a new crypto-artist called JOY (which is an abbreviation of his full name John Orion Young). He creates amazing, surrealistic 3D artworks in Oculus Medium using an Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset.

John Orion Young (JOY) is a contemporary artist living in San Francisco. Classically trained from childhood in his father's art studio in painting and sculpting, JOY's mediums today have evolved to include virtual reality, blockchain, and AI.

When you visit his website with an installed Metamask browser extension, you're able to buy his crazy artworks with ETH.

But the art-market comes with a twist: Buyers are not able to hold the artwork when a new buyer is willing to pay a higher price.

The moment a work of art becomes yours, the price is set by the Smart Contract for the next buyer. This guarantees you a nice profit if the work is bought from you. Lower prices have smaller jumps so the work may flip quicker. At higher prices, it is easier to hold a work of art in your collection longer.

The artist takes a small 10% fee on each transaction for development and art. Here is a short video of a dancing avatar, that looks like the artist's alter ego.

Following the artist's roadmap, every artwork will become part of a virtual JOYworld, "a magical creative space in virtual reality where you will be able to experience the art you own."

All of the art is created by John Orion Young in virtual reality with the intended experience to be in augmented, mixed, and virtual reality. We are starting with the Ethereum art market and working towards you experiencing your artworks in other realities.

Conclusion

I'm quite attracted by the unique virtual artworks of JOY and I will watch the development of his JOYworld very closely. Although most of the artworks at his marketplace are quite pricey already, he promised to release new works for a starting price of just 0.001 ETH. Hopefully I'll be able to catch one of those.
