RE: Chaos & Creations of the Weird: Art Collection Vol. 3
thanks! at first, I felt the need to 'answer' these questions, but maybe I'll just dance with mystery.
"Language," William S. Burroughs reminded us, "is a virus from outer space." A virus operates autonomously, without human intervention. It attaches itself to a host and feeds off of it, growing and spreading from host to host. Language infects us; its power derives not from its straightforward ability to communicate or persuade but rather from this infectious nature, this power of bits of language to graft itself onto other bits of language, spreading and reproducing, using human beings as hosts.
In the beginning, was the word,
they say that the truth shall set you free
but it's the truth that entraps me
Maybe this is why Buddha told us
to quiet our drifting minds and
to subdue our craving thoughts
Maybe why the Sage told us
The name that can be named
is not the eternal Name
Free from desire,
you realize the mystery
Caught in desire,
you see only the manifestations
I am not familiar with that, shall we call it a supposition? I wasn't making the connection with language as a meme either. ....
Tangential ... .. humans have nothing at all to do with language and language with reality - wait, there is no reality - wait, reality is constructed by language - originally, from outer space ..
I believe that Chomsky's work provides a set of tools which help me to understand language, thinking, politics, sociology, psychology etc.. perhaps you are familiar with him.. he has expressed his opinion into the reasons philosophers sometimes make outlandish claims -- here
